Our products will play a key role in low carbon propulsion, including electrified powertrains, autonomous vehicles and hydrogen fuel cells.

Right now, Tata Steel’s range of high-strength steels is helping reduce the weight of vehicles, making them safer and more energy-efficient. For every kilogram of advanced high-strength steel used in a car, 8kg of CO₂ emissions are saved over the vehicle's lifespan.

Our engineers are involved in the early stages of vehicle development, helping our customers to design and manufacture vehicles with minimal waste and maximum efficiency. It’s a sustainable approach which keeps costs low and makes mobility available to all. We are committed to optimising sustainability throughout the supply chain, and have developed a life cycle assessment service so our customers can understand their carbon footprint and can choose for more sustainable product solutions.

As society opts for low carbon propulsion cars and contemplates mass transport options such as the radical Hyperloop, we can be sure steel will continue to play a major part in ensuring the mobility choices of the future are safe, affordable and sustainable.
